Chronic Pain and Illness Intensives in Atlanta and throughout Georgia and Florida
If you’re tired of feeling tired and want to start feeling that drive to get things done again, intensive therapy for chronic pain and illness can help.
Give yourself a 3-day retreat-style intensive to regain your sense of hope and control over your chronic pain and illness.
Hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. In-person intensives are offered to anyone wanting to travel to Atlanta. Online intensives are offered to all Georgia and Florida residents.
What is an “intensive?”
Intensive therapy consolidates months of therapy into a weekend’s worth of work. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to the length and frequency of therapy sessions. We make this decision by determining what our nervous systems prefer.
Sometimes we want the large chunks of time to really gain momentum and keep that momentum up. Other times we want slower, trickled support week by week. Not sure which one’s right for you? Click here to book your free consultation call.
Why would I choose one?
If you constantly get to the end of your therapy sessions feeling like you had to cut yourself off right as you were starting to open up, a therapy intensive is for you. Intensives minimize the disruption that can happen for folks in traditional 50-minute therapy sessions.
Some people find that they learn and process better in focused bursts of activity rather than spread-out sessions. If that’s you, an intensive might suit your learning and processing style better. And it doesn’t have to be one over the other! You can start with intensives and then switch to regular therapy or vice versa.
This isn’t your weekly therapy session, it’s an in-depth dive into the missing links of your chronic illness journey.
-
Learn the foundational concepts of pain-science and pain-reprocessing in a weekend, rather than months.
Build a quicker foundation of safety in your body, so that you can continue with weekly or biweekly therapy appointments with a sense of groundedness.
Can be done online, to avoid travel.
Can be done in conjunction with your current therapist, whom I will coordinate care with on your behalf.
Can be done instead of weekly therapy, if you prefer.

Both options are available. Online and in-person are equally effective, so it comes down to your preference. Online intensives are great for clients with fragrance and chemical sensitivities, fatigue exacerbated by travel, or any other reason that travel is difficult. Online intensives are only available to clients who are physically in the state of Georgia or Florida at the time of the intensive.
In-person options are great for clients who prefer in-person work or who reside in a state outside of Georgia or Florida and who wish to travel to Atlanta, Georgia to receive services.

Yes, the two modalities I use as a therapist are both trauma-informed and true trauma treatment. I use a mix of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Somatic Experiencing, both of which have research supporting it’s use in managing chronic pain AND trauma.
An intensive is a great addition to therapeutic work you might have already done in the past or work you wish to do in thefuture.

Past clients have shared these takeaways:
Embraced needs and learned to ask for them effectively.
Stopped feeling like a burden and started feeling like a valued member of their family.
Stopped searching for the next new solution to fix your pain/illness. Instead, client’s realize that they already had the answers they were looking for, but fear was preventing them from seeing it.
Got rid of old supplements and protocols that never worked anyway.
Started making plans to socialize locally AND make travel plans again, despite fear.
Released the need for external validation and started deeply connecting with friends and family again.
A better understanding of their Highly Sensitive Nervous System profile.
You might not walk away with each and every point listed above, because this process will be unique to you. I’m looking forward to adding your takeaway to the list!
Is a chronic pain therapy intensive for me?
Despite what you think, you’re not a burden. Let’s get your mind and body on board with that notion. Intensives are best suited for the highly self-aware person who has benefited from previous therapy and other physical treatments (like physical therapy) but wants to experience more relief.
If you’ve been feeling…
hopeless and frustrated by all the medical treatments you’ve tried that still leave you with little to no relief
difficulty managing your emotions because your pain clouds your brain
like your relationships are suffering because no one understands what you’re going through
like you can’t be the person you used to be and want to be again
stuck in a cycle of pain and negative coping mechanisms
Then it’s time to stop suffering alone and start finding your way again.
Unlike other chronic pain programs, this one won’t tell you “it’s all in your head,” “you’re doing it wrong,” “just focus on the positive,” or “you need to push through it.” These are the messages that lead to exacerbated pain and a damaging cycle of pushing through only to crash and burn.
*An intensive therapy weekend is not suitable for those who are actively suicidal, homicidal, or in acute crisis. For fast and immediate crisis help, please call or text the national suicide hotline at 988.
